: I have a Crown Graphic with a 127mm f:4.7 Ektar Lens
: (S/N ES18470) and I want to replace it with a roughly
: equivalent modern lens because the sharpness of this
: lens doesn't cut it by today's standards.

: I will confess my naivete' on the subject up-front.

: What is the best way to go about replacing the lens. I
: deally, I want to take out the lens board on the camera
: and keep it in a drawer and replace it with a new
: lensboard and lens.

: Are there off-the-shelf lens boards available that will
: fit on this camera? The lens board is approximately
: 3-3/4" square.

: Secondly, would a Nikkor W, 105mm f/5.6 lens be
: appropriate to use on this camera? I strictly want to
: use the camera for landscape shots.

: Any help is appreciated.

: Thanks.

re the Nikkor W 105/5.6, it is intended for 6x9
and won't cover 4x5.

re alternatives to the 127 Ektar, the limiting
factors are bellows draw (you've got lots for a
normal lens) and size of the rear cell. just about any normal lens for 4x5 should fit.
