: In my opinion, it's not that critical at all. The Graphite in the Lubriplate is certainly a benefit, but not if you end up with it all over your cream colored suit while shooting pictures on Easter Sunday. I've used minimal amounts of Vaseline, white lithium, and on most camers not a darn thing. But I will admit I'm a radical, I once packed a wheel bearing with Desonex, cause it was all I had.
