With regard to the focusing scales, I do not have any information,
and can only say that all other focusing scales that I am aware of
show the distance from the plane of focus (film plane) to the
subject. If you are measuring from the film plane to the clock face
and you still don't get agreement with the shown distance, then
obviously SOMETHING is not quite right.
Pointing at some long distance object and checking whether the
ground glass and rangefinder are still in agreement, and whether
the focus scale comes to infinity would clarify the issue.
