In most applications the individual batteries are connected with
spotwelded tabs. Not having a spotwelder, soldering is the option I
use.
I like to solder thin flexable strips of copper or brass to connect
the batteries (available at most hobby shops). I use electrical
tape to hold the batteries together while soldering. You will need
a good soldering gun/iron (at least 100Watts) and good electronic
solder. Use as only enough heat to properly melt the solder and get
a good joint.
