As for leather, Bert and several Museums are big Lexol fans, old timers used shoe polish, but they weren't expecting the camera to outlast them. I occasionally will wax the metal parts with Diamond Brite, but a good car wax will do just as well. In a rush I will use glass cleaner on the ground glass, if I have time I will use a dilute dish detergent, rinse well under tap water and allow to air dry (all of this happens once every 5 years or so) The battery cases for the flash can use a coat of wax, but the best advice to keeping them looking new is a well padded case and keeping thecamera out of harm's way.

This reduces the chances of scratches tears and the occasional dropping into raw untreaded and stagnant sewers (which I've done).

When this occurs I've found the best remedy is to remove the lens and douce the camera under running water for about 10 minutes, followed by a complete dissassembly to dry and wax and reassembly. I've found that a Graphic can fare this kind of emergency treatment very well.
