Back in school when the prof gave us a "shoot 20 rolls process and contacts+ one perfect matted print on my desk at 8am" kind of assignment I processed 35mm back to back on a reel.
The trouble was the fix needed to get to the back to remove the antihalation coating on Tri-X. Hence in a panic I ended up re fixing in a 3gallon tank like grandma boiled spagetti.
So, Yes you can do it, but I don't think it saves time.
