I guess there is some subjectivity re the performance
of the old lenses. I read the article on this site about
lenses and because of that I replaced the Zeiss Tessar
on my Mini Speed with a Wollensak Optar because it
was coated on the air-to-glas s surfaces. I expected it
to give me more contrast and more detail in the shadows.
An old camera buff at my local camera store thinks the
Tessar is a higher quality glass even though uncoated.
And the seller of the 4x5 bragged about the performance
Of the Zeiss Tessar also.
So I will have to shoot a newspaper on the wall with
Both lenses and then inspect the neg under magnification
To see which one is better.

It's not the Range Finder that cost $60 but just
The Focuscope on the rangefinder. It's a diopter
Thingamajiggy and is suppose to help focussing
With the rangefinder.

I guess I am interested in a USER camera even though
I admire the condition of this specimen very much and
Would use it and cherish it because it is so pretty.
I like your advise about not getting too attached to
Any one camera. Especially since I am primarily a
35mm man with my Canon EOS 3 and now I have
the Mini Speed with a 2.25 x 3.25 negative. I think
I was seduced by the condition of this 4x5. I don't
Even have an enlarger to print the 4x5 negative yet.
My Beseler 23C will print the 2.25 x 3.25 negative which
Is why I got the Mini Speed. I still have this desire
For the 4x5 Annie mentioned even though I could
Probably spend my $ more wisely elsewhere. If I
Do end up getting this one, my girlfriend is going to
Think me compulsive. I have 2 Mini Speeds (one
For parts) and my Canon as well as a Canon 620
Backup camera. They just don't understand do they?
