I recently bought a Super Speed Graphic with a
Rodenstock 135mm Optar lens. The rear element of the
lens has a problem with separation. It is my
understanding that the rear element is actually layers
that have been adhered to one another. My
question is what are my options? I figured that because
you can just unscrew the rear element that I should be
able to find a new one to replace it with. However, I
have been unable to track one down. Can I just use the
rear element from any 135mm lense or does it that exact
model of lens? Should I just give up and buy a new lens
to fit that lens board? If so what newer lenses will
fit a Super Speed Graphic lens board and have a top
shutter speed of 1/1000th of a second? Please excuse my
ignorance I am new to 4X5. Thanks.
