: O.k Well I think we determined I have a Graflex back on
: my old Navy Speed Graphic. I don't have much interest
: in using 120 film in this camera, and iI figure some
: Navy photographer probably took plenty of shots with
: the back that's on it. So, I guess what I need to
: figure out is what kind of film holder to find., and
: how to identify them. I saw some wooden holders on
: ebay, referred to as type V (?). I think I need a half
: dozen holders or so. Any help?

Gene,

Here's what you are looking for

http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=432020718

Note:These holders have a groove down both edges and
down the front. Officially these are called
Graflex film holders.

Other film holders lack the groove down the edge
and have one or two RIDGES accross the front. These are offically called Graphic film holders. The wood film holders will be stamped Graphic or Graflex film holder. While rare, there are Graphic and Graflex PLATE holders too. these took g l a s s plates and in general should be avoided.
Type
5 film holders have two ridges, one to fit in the
goove in the camera and one to wrap around the
outside edge. I think they stick out a little
farther than type 4s or 3s. Type 5s came with
darkslides that have 5 dots or holes on the
handle. The dots are there to tell which side of
the dark slide it the unexposed side. Dark slides
with 5 dots are suppossed to be acceptable for
Infra red film. The older holders used 3 dots.

another alternative is the bag mag. Here's a link to a dead auction with a pic of a 2x3 version. These will only fit Graflex backs.
