: Les -
: With your knowledge, time, and consideration I am
: learning so much vital information about my Mini
: Speed.
: I have two knob roll film holders. Graflex 22
: without the pin rollers and a Graflex 23 (6x9)
: with pin rollers in the door that hinges closed
: to meet the body of the holder containing the film.
: The 23 came with a box that says
: 23 Graphic Roll Holder for 2* x 3* cameras
: with film flatteners.
: So I think my "22" will probably not hold film
: flat. If I stop down to f/22 will it be ok?
: I spent $150 for it off Ebay.
: Live and learn!
: I'm glad to know the Wollensak Optar, being coated,
: will give me a higher contrast/less flare than the
: uncoated Zeiss Tessar. But I will have to move
: the infinity stops since the Zeiss was 105mm and
: the Optar is 101mm and does not focus at infinity
: with the current placement of the stops.
: I needed to collimate my Kalart rangefinder anyway
: so I will consider it a project. I found a Kalart
: casing on a 'parts' camera as you suggested and
: it has the missing raised eyepiece (*") with the
: gla ss window. I want it just to keep out the
: dust and consequently I gave up on the diopter,
: whose price rose to $53. I can see where the
: diopter eyepiece screws into the shallow thread
: of the *" raised eyepiece though as Bert told me.
: So thank you for sharing your knowledge with
: us all. I have so much respect for these cameras
: and really admire their construction.
: I am more than a little proud that they are an
: American camera. After these Graflex's it seems
: like all the glory went to German and Japanese
: cameras. Not that I wouldn't mind owning a Leica!
: Warmest regards,
: Kent
Look for a Graphic Graflex Photography, 8th 9th or 10 edition, 11th editons are thinner but they talk about Super Speeds. and all of these are post war.Don't pay more than $25.00 and don't fret about not having a dust jacket. It will tell you almost everything I've told you about lenses masks, makes, and accessories. You can find them on ebay or www.bibliofind. for a while bibliofind was cheaper, then ebay now I'm not sure.
