Henry yeah I saw those, but went for the one I won which has the ground glass back..plus everything else but flash and film back. and I got it for $225 shipped. That red bellow one looks good but didnt have the ground glass back so I passes. Plus the one I bought is cleaner and is dates to 1949! |

A way, yes, the way, maybe, for some of us, almost certainly not for everyone.
AARs have two advantages over other 2x3 roll holders for 2x3 and 3x4 cameras: They insert like a sheet film holder so can be used with cameras that have spring backs. If loaded carefully, they'll give nine (9) shots per roll of film.
They have disadvantages: Must take up on a 620 spool. Take the film up inside out. Fiddly to load. Frame counters can be temperamental.
They're lifesavers for cameras with spring backs but there are better roll holders that attach to Graflok backs. I've thought for years that I should save my small monetary units and buy a couple of Horseman roll holders. |

Nice grab, Joey! It's got everything basic that you need. Love that gg with the grid marks---that'll be great for any kind of critical composition, as with buildings, etc. The leather strap is an upgrade; the stock Century strap is a piece of plastic junk that I quickly removed, and replaced with a strap I made using 1" black nylon webbing from the fabric store. And although you may find the top-mounted optical viewfinder to be of limited accuracy and, therefore, usefulness, at least you have the longer one, which means that you won't scrunch your face up against the roll film holder---at least, not as much as I do with the short finder. For hand work, I rely on the so-called "sports finder," with allowance for 6x7 (it's proportioned for 6x9). All in all, a terrific buy at a really good price! |

now you will need to look for lensboards
I have 4 of these carbon fiber lensboards
they work great & when you buy 3 for $75. + s&h it makes
it $28.00 each & that a great price

I see that many of the listed backs for 2x3 cameras are discontinued. I think your best bet is used Graphic backs in good condition. I have five: a 6x9 knob wind, a lever-advance RH20 (6x7 for 220 film), and three lever-advance RH10 backs. I think the most I paid for any of them was $75, in fact the 6x9 was a gift from a friend who was ultimately going digital. I've never used the RH20 (in fact, 220 roll film is about extinct), and I think I shot one roll of 120 through the 6x9 (RH8) back. With the three RH10s I can carry three different films, typically b/w, color slide, and color negative.
You could go to the auction site and see whether any backs are listed. The Graphic ones come up pretty often, usually overpriced IMO. |

all most all graflex / graphic roll film holders are 120
the RH20 is for 220!!
And like I said I like the Horseman BUT there are some of the older Horseman that DON'T work!! Like Eba_ #250972960192
and any roll film holder // backs if you shop wheight you can find a better price ! Like I have gotten some Horseman as low as $65.00 & minty RH8 have gone as high as $250.00!!
so take your time and get a good buy!! |

Henry, I've always thought that Arca-Swiss, Horseman, and Wista roll holders came out of the same machine shop.
banjo, pardon my ignorance, what's the matter with the Horseman back you pointed it? Dead? Won't fit a 2x3 Graflok? What? I ask because I'm thinking about getting one. If there are any I shouldn't want (knob-wind Horseman?) I need to know (a) why and (b) how to recognize 'em. |

the other newer one you need to cut away about 1mm off the lift side
of the Graflok back to work!! as it don't set down all the way!
just cut off a little of that rige just un till the Grafloks bare lock
AND NO Arca-Swiss, Horseman, and Wista roll holders DON"T all come out of the same
anyway my Horseman, and Wista DON't mach!! I thered to put the Film Holder Inserts out of the Wista into the Horseman AND IT DON't |
