Anyone know the dimensions of the Pacemaker 3x4 lens board?
"A" Boards for my 3x4 Anniversary Speed are pretty thin on the ground. Saw a 3x4 Crown Pacemaker - not sure I can resist - I assume my wooden Anniversary Boards will not fit... Any identifying characteristics to use while I'm shopping on the bay?
The 4x5 boards don't fit, or do they? That would be too simple. _________________ OptarJones

Thanks, Banjo.
I've made a few 3x4 Anniversary boards - that's easy enough-
But I've never even seen a Pacemaker 3x4 lens board *******...
If anyone can measure one for me, I'd appreciate it...
EDIT: The SK Grimes Lens Board Database does not appear to list a separate board for the 3x4 Pacemaker.

Thanks, Mopar Guy. At least I'll know what to look for at a swap meet. _________________ OptarJones

When making lens boards for Pacemaker/Super series Graphic cameras from either acrylic or plywood the 3/32 outer lip is very difficult to obtain but can be done with a Dremel, 1/8-3/16 straight cut bit, and a Dremel router base. Using 3/16 to 1/4 inch thick material cut the outer dimension so that the blank will just fit into the opening with the board locks open. Next cut the inner bead so that the board will just sit into the opening and the board locks will just close.
Now if the outer edge chips off it is not a problem as the extra thickness fitting into the front standard throat helps form a light trap. If the front edge chips off get a new piece of material and start over. Paint plywood flat black on the inner side. Sand the gloss off acrylic on the inner surface. I prefer black acrylic. This can be a good substitute until a factory one comes along. _________________ The best camera ever made is the one that YOU enjoy using and produces the image quality that satifies YOU. |

That said, although I've bought 2x3 Pacemaker boards (not offered very often), lenses on 2x3 Pacemaker boards (ditto), and even lenses on 4x5 Pacemaker boards (ditto again), I don't recall seeing a 3x4 board offered there. I understand that if you don't look you certainly won't find, but the odds are against you. |
