So far so good, I have managed to get the rangefinder plunger unstuck and working. (A small amount of dilute isopropol-alcohol applied with a cotton bud to unstick, hair dryer on low to dry off, then lube with graphite powder).

Now the rangefinder is supposed to have had a lamp, so there must be a battery, given the age of the camera it is probably corroding happily in it's chamber. I would like to get it out if at all possible, but;

1. I don't know where it is housed.
2. How do I get at it.

Any help appreciated.

Rob, Service Manual for the Top Mounted Rangefinder Graphics

I could try and explain it, but a picture is worth a thousand words.
It's much easier to do than explain.

You were right about the manual being worth a thousand words. As I couldn't get the battery door open, so took the top off (very carefully). No batteries no bulb, all very clean, just atmospheric oxidisation on the contacts. I may even (once I have studied what is required a bit more) try and fix the slight vertical misalignment in the rangefinder. The documentation seems straight forward, althoug I bet that like many things it will not be that easy.

As for the rangefinder illumination,I'm tempted to try and find a suitable bulb and give it a go.

Rob.
