Just aquired a Grafematic back by Wray, light usage with manual and the price is still on the original box; £12/7/6d reduced from £12/11/6d that's £12.37 1/2 reduced from £12.57 1/2 in todays currency. That was expensive back then.

To have the price in pre-decimalsation notation means it must have been sold prior to Feb 15th 1971 in the UK.

It seems a shame to use it, perhaps I'll look for another, and put this away for another decade or two.

I'm pretty sure Wray ended their contract with Graflex in the late 60s

I have an early Grafmatic and a couple of the later version. I prefer the older well broken in model, and that's the only one I seem to use as it works excellent and slides more easily than the slightly used stiff later one's. Never had a problem with the older one, evenin a changing bag, but the later one's, and I've had my hands on quite a few, seem to be harder to opperate and more prone to septum damage. Just my experience.

This one seems to work very smoothly. What suprised me was how (releatively) expensive they were to buy at the time.

Here's some prices from my '72 catalog (all for 4x5)

riteway film holder 5.50
Film pack adapter 18.10
Grafmatic 38.85
RH-10 76.70
RH-50 170.45

Looking up some conversion history, the USD was trading for about .39-.40 GBP so a $38.85 Grafmatic would convert to £15. Prices may have been slightly cheaper in the late '60s. In the late '50s the Grafmatic was $28.00 and the Riteway was $4.95
