I am a beginner with a speed graphic. I am missing something on loading 4 X 5 film. The camera came with wooden film holders marked "4 X 5, Made in USA Graflex Inc." The film is J & C which measures 3 3/4 X 4 3/4 inches. The holder appears 4 X 5 and the film is too short to lie under the flap. Also there is a spring in the center. Help. Al |

1. You have a 4x5 plate holder. It was designed to hold glass plates. Film sheaths were made for it so that one could use sheet film in the plate holder. Film sheaths are rare.
2. I just checked a piece of 4x5 sheet film and its 3 7/8 x 4 7/8 inches.
3. Get some 4x5 sheet film holders and you'll be good to go. Graphic Riteway (wood), Lisco Regal, Fidelity Elite (both plastic). _________________ The best camera ever made is the one that YOU enjoy using and produces the image quality that satifies YOU. |

Take a close look on the face of all of your holders, you found where it said "4x5 , made in the USA Graflex Inc." probably on the other face it will say, "Graphic plate holder" or "Graphic film holder" Maybe not all of your holders are plate holders. Good luck.
