|
|
I have recently aquired an Anniversary Speed Graphic in good condition.
It has the original Supermatic shutter and 127mm Ektar lens but is lacking a spring back for film holders. In place of a spring back there is a ground glass with a flip up focusing hood.
Where can I get a spring back that will accept the Lisco holders I use in my Crown View?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

My Anny came originally with Graflex back - removable focus panel and film holders "with a groove." It is 1940 vintage. Dan has a good suggestion to look twice! |

Whatever it is it doesn't have the 'ears' on the right like the graphic back.
I will post a photo of it tomorrow. |

That will clinch it! It's a Graflex back. So you'll need either Graflex type film holders (the ones with the grooves down the long side) or get either a Graflok or Graphic back.
I've never been fond of 120 roll film on a 4x5 camera so I'd say go with a Graphic back, they're 1/3 the price of a Graflok back and lighter too. and you can still use 120 film via a Calumet C2 or C2N roll film holder. _________________ "In order to invent, you need a good imagination and a lot of junk" Thomas Edison |

I've heard that the old Graflex holders are hard to come by but haven't checked in to it myself yet. Time to start searching ebay for a Graphic back. I have 15 Lisco holders that I use on my Crown View.
Along with the Anny I received a bunch of Graflex 22 & 23 roll film backs but I think they were meant for a different camera.
Thanks to all for the help and comments. Great forum! Lots of good info here. |

Those roll film backs should fit a Graflok back. If you are thinking of replacing the back on your camera that might be the tipping factor in choosing between a spring (Graphic) back and a Graflok one.
I just noticed that you are in Southern CA where there are quite a few Graflex users. If you can meet with someone who has a 4x5 with a Graflok back it would be easy to verify if your roll film backs fit that back.
