Recently acqiured a Graflex RB Super D an am thrilled with it. Have been making exposures for about a week with no problem, but today I find I can not turn the shutter tension knob, no matter what I do with the tension releaser, curtain setting, mirror lever, etc. I have pretty good mechanical aptitude, but I don't want to blindly open up the works. Any suggestions for fixing this? (The tension is currently jammed at L(ow). Thanks (and I have a portrait session coming up next week!) |

The Online Graflex manual and Super D links in the REFLEX HELP section cover the shutter fully. If anything is not in its proper place the shutter will not work. Check all lever settings and wind down thw curtain if possible. This is a Reflex Help question.

Glad to get a reply so quickly. I should have been more explicit in the problem statement. The shutter works at all designated apertures (O, T, A, B, C, and D; its the tension knob that has jammed on Low, so I now get only half of the shutter speeds.
I've checked all the links on this site, but I don't seem to find anything on the jammed tension knob. Suggestions? Thanks

45PSS: Thanks for the reply. It took me a while to figure out what you meant because I don't yet know all the different forums. I found your information about shutter tension in the Reflex forum as you suggested. Thanks for your help. I have ordered Romney's new manual on the Super D and will await an exploded view drawing before messinbg around with the spring tensioner. |
