Better than YouKnowWho, can you suggest sites where one might do trades with perhaps-reliable traditional film photographers, Graflex and otherwise/US and otherwise, for lenses, bodies, bits, pieces, and other gimcracks? For example, trading old Leica for a Crown or Rollei for Century, one lens for another? Or even buying/selling? |

If you're up for working in swedish, http://www.tradera.com
If you're up for working in dutch, http://www.fotoaparatuur.nl and I'm not sure whether there's one p or two.
If you're up for working in french, http://www.galerie-photo.info/forum/ has a used goods forum. |

I suspect all the Dutch speak English. I've dealt with Dutch Gypsies for guitars.
Dan, have you traded with these groups?
I've traded trhough YouKnowWho in France and Germany and done OK. Even Japan, which was weirder than I expected. Mais it immer bist ze roll of ze dice, nicht wahr? ...to mix some metaphors. |

| Dave, Djon,
I speak few languages, just absorb useless knowledge. Stupid Speed Graphic tricks, for example.
I've never bought through tradera, fotoapparatuur, of the french lf forum's used goods section. I chase fairly obscure gear, have never seen it on those sites at unfairly low prices. I try not to pay fair prices, unfairly low are much better for me as a buyer. tradera has nice english help.
My foreign purchases have been through eBay (eBay.com, eBay.co.uk, eBay.fr, and eBay.de so far) and from web sites, not all of them camera dealers', (UK, Germany, & Austria, so far).
Buying used junk mail order is always a gamble. It was in the days of Shutterbug, it still is in the days of, mainly, eBay. That's another reason why I try to buy below marking. Minimize my exposure to loss.
Cheers,
Dan |
