I read about this somewhere, perhaps in a book by Kertesz.
How does one make an enlarger from a speed graphic?

If you do a search through the website, you will find information on the Graflarger back that is available for the cameras, they show up on ebay once in a while, not often but they are out there...
If you understand the principals of an enlarger you should be able to figure out how to make your camera into an enlarger.

If you can't find one on eBay, I know that Adorama had a Graflarger back in its used section for ages, and it's probably still there. If you want to get fancy, Aristo can upgrade Graflarger backs to modern V54 tubes, which work better with multigrade papers (I usually print graded, though, so I'm fine with the old tube).
On the one hand, in this day and age, you can find a full featured enlarger very inexpensively, so there isn't much demand for Graflarger backs. On the other hand, if you don't have room for a conventional enlarger, or if you're going to be traveling some place where you'll be there long enough to want to do some printing, but not so long to justify shipping out your enlarger, a Graflarger might be just the thing.
Linhof also made cold light and condenser enlarger backs, but these are harder to find than Graflarger backs. |
