I would really like to have a DOF scale for my crown graphic. I've seen Q.T. Luong's page which has an article explaining what to do. Although, I am most definitely stumped as how to approach this. While I am not looking for all the answers, I would just like to know if anyone has done it before and has any pointers to share. Thanks for listening!

Hi
Several years ago there was a web site that one could calculate depth-of-field and hyperfocal distances for medium and large formats. To find the near, far and hyperfocal distance for a specific lens, enter the focal length (mm), aperature (f/number) and the objects distance (whole or decimal number in feet). I searched for it on the internet and it has either moved or is no longer available.
I do have Depth-of-Field tables for the following focal length lenses... 101mm, 135mm and 152mm. Will these help you? Harry |

definitely, thank you. i ended up making a chart and sticking it on the pop-up hood. i guess what i really wanted was a dof scale next to the distance scale on the bed. for now the chart is more than enough. i'm just the bells and whistles type i suppose. thanks for your reply though. |

If you're a "bells and whistles kinda guy", what are you doing with a 110% manual camera?
BTW, that dig was in good natured fun.
I have a Crown, Hassey 500C and a Nikon F5. I think they each have their place in application, but I gotta admit; I ONLY grin when I use the Crown!

Wolvertone, true. I just thought that it would help ease the transition from using a camera that practically takes the picture for you, to a camera that makes you think before you shoot. This is my first lf camera, and the big negs make me feel like a hero. As far as 'bells and whistles' go,
I like having 4 different viewfinders. Also being able to disassemble the thing is a big plus for me. I hope i have mine long enough to give to my children. |

"I hope i have mine long enough to give to my children."
If it's taken care of, it'll outlast them!
Happy shooting,
Steve
