Recently I aquired a speed graphic, and even more recently (today) I discovered to my dismay that the camera takes 3x4 film, or 3 1/4 x 4 1/4. So I find myself in quite a perdicament, as 3x4 film holders aren't exactly an easy find, and even if I was able to get the right size film holders then I would have to cut my own film.
I guess what I'm really asking is if it's worth looking for the 3x4 film holders. Also I'm not too sure I'd know how to go about cutting my own film.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. |

| For 3x4 b/w sheet film in a limited range of emulsions, try http://www.jandcphoto.com. If what they have will meet your needs, yes, look for 3x4 sheet film holders. eBay is a likely place to look.
Roll holders to fit 3x4 Graphics exist. If yours has a Graflok back, Graflex Inc. and successors made 'em with 2.25" x 3.25" gates. Look on eBay, at http://www.mpex.com, and maybe at http://www.ritzcam.com. If yours has a spring back and you can live with 2.25" x 3.25" images and with respooling exposed film back on to 120 spools before sending it to the lab, look for an Adapt-A-Roll 620 to fit a 3x4 camera on, yes, eBay. They exist.
Good luck, have fun,

I'll check out the link you provided. I must admit I was told about the 120 roll film adapter, but it's really not a choice I'm willing to consider; I wouldn't have thought of buying the Speed Graphic if I knew I'd have to settle for that film size.
Thanks for the input |

3x4 film holders are not that hard to find and usually pretty cheap.
Look at:
http://www.pacificrimcamera.com/
http://www.mpex.com/
http://www.keh.com/ (probably in the LF collectibles section)

Midwests web site may not list all their inventory; call and ask for Jim and they will quite likely be able to help you. Their prices are very reasonable.
3X4 is not a bad size; the availability of film is really the only issue. Also try Film for Classics; they have cut-down Tri-X rather than the eastern European emulsions that J&C offers. And I think Pacific Rim may have negative carriers for Omega D2 if that is what you have; otherwise make an insert for your 4X5 carrier to take the smaller negative. |

I wonder if Fidelity still makes 3x4 holders on a special order basis. A few (10) years back, they did build me 2 pairs of 2x3 holders at a reasonable cost. I got frustrated with all the light leaks on old, used holders and bought a couple of new ones. |

Call calumet, they own the company that makes all American film holders now. The company name escapes me... Hollywood Film Holder Corp or something like that.
