Hello fellow graflex users...
I just picked up 4x5 and bought an old crown graphic via ebay..

Needless to say ... i LOVE my camera.. *hugs it*..

My graflex comes with the usual 127 ektar 4.7, and i was wondering if i could mount these lenses on the current lenses board, and if not, what would i have to do/get?

1. Schneider Xenar 135mm F4.7
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7506271952&fromMakeTrack=true#ebayphotohosting

2. Fujinon 210mm with a copal 1 shutter.

Would appreciate the help... thanks guys..

You could easily mount both lenses to your Crown. The only restrictions to lens use is the size of the mounting flange or ring. It has to be able to mount to the lens board. And the rear element has to be able to fit through the opening in the front standard. It's also difficult to use anything longer than 10-12 inches without going telephoto also...

That said, I would also suggest investing in a different 135mm if you want one. You may have to pay more. But the Xenar is rated for only a 160mm image circle. 4x5 needs ~155mm. That doesn't leave much room... Other could offer an opinion on that...

Ooops, just noticed that lens is the f/4.7 and not the f/4.5... So it's got a 165mm image circle. Might be good enough

And Congrats on your Crown! Graphics are just great cameras!

Short answer, probably not the Xenar and probably not the Fujinon either.

If the Ektar is in a Supermatic or Rapax, its mount hole will be the wrong size for a Copal 1. The Xenar might be in a Graphex/Rapax, so its shutter might fit. But odds are that it is in a Compur, in which case no go.

US-made shutters don't conform the the Compur-Prontor-Copal-Seiko-... standard.

Don't be cheap, buy the boards you need. Small holes can be enlarged ...

Good luck, have fun,
Dan
