hello all!
i have a speed graphic, love it, grew unsatisfied with contact prints, so i bought a graflarger back (4x5).
at first i was using the normal taking lens (kodak ektar 127mm) for my prints, but they were uneven (got lighter around the edges). i figured it must be the lens, so i bought a used schneider componon-s 5.6/135. tried it out last night, and still the same "hot spot" problem. i just read it with a lightmeter with no negative in the carier, and the difference beetween the center and the edges is over 1 stop!
is this common / normal??? looking at the graflarger back, the light seems fairley consistant.
i was thinking about making a circular ND Graduated filter to put behind the diffusion glass in the head?
any thoughts? ideas? lens or the graflarger?
i dont want to have to burn edges for ever.
help, please and thanks!

Find a good Nikor or other enlarging lens and mont it on a lens board for your camera and retest, should correct the problem.
A search using Graflarger as the key word will bring up the other post on the subject and enlarging lens as the keyword with all the terms selected should bring up a few suggestions for enlarging lens to use.
