I have a rangefinder that needs a new mirror. I would like any clues on how to get the works out of the stainless tube on this model. Does it slide out of the tube on the copper/brass that is exposed when the end caps are removed? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I assume that you're referring to the mirror at the bottom that pivots to send half of the split image to the fixed splitter mirror above. When I had my Model F apart, I looked at further disassembly, and was very happy to see that the bottom mirror was in good shape. I just replaced the splitter mirror and a spring. I had the lower mirror centering cover off at one point, and could not see how to remove it.

Can you get by by just cleaning the lower mirror? Unscrewing the glass cover on the front allows access with a Q-tip/lens tissue and lens cleaner. Otherwise I agree, it is a puzzle, and I would worry about messing up the linkage mechanism with further disassembly.

I have been unable to even get at the splitter mirror. The whole assembly on this rangefinder is enclosed in a stainless steel tube. I can remove the back cover and see some of the linkage and a spring but there is no access to the optics.

There are two covers on the ends of the square tube and under one there is a spring and a small square of cardboard. Under the other is just a piece of cardboard and there is a bent piece of brass or copper visible that I imagine is the support for the mirror. I can see it on both ends but I don't want to force it out of the tube for fear of damaging the unit. Sooo how does this one come apart without the use of pyrotechnical devices?

Again thanks for the help on this one!
