I've noticed that my Kodak Commercial Ektar lenses have small dots of paint on the rear of the shutter. These are neatly applied and appear to be something that was done at the factory. I have an 8.5 inch that has a red, a yellow and a blue spot, and my 12" has a red and a yellow spot, my 10" only has a yelow dot, and come to think of it, a 7.5" f4.5 Ektar that I used to own had a yellow and a red dot on it.
Does anyone know what these signify? Is it something to do with the coating, or lens performance?
Thanks for any input.

If it's on the back of the shutter itself, it probably doesn't have much to do with the lens. Probably another one of Kodak's mysteries known only to the person that assembled the shutter.
