I've been struggling for some time with various Series adapters for my 2x3 Pacemaker Speed Graphic. I have several lens for it - Ektar 101mm, a hacked Xenotar from a junker Rolleiflex, and an Agfa repro lens (Repromaster 210).
I also have several other older cameras, and the filters, shades, etc. are always a problem - particularly since I'm in Europe (Croatia).

Anyway, reading some discussions here on various adapters, I went to test a suggestion I heard, and here's what I've come up with.

I have a Series VI - VII step up adapter, and inside it I just glued a junked 52mm filter metal ring. It fits just fine. It won't thread onto the Series VII opening, but some glue will hold it in just fine. Put some gaffer tape (or similar - I just used plain black "electrician tape, as we call it here) on the outside if you want to, just to make it a bit more "appealing".

This way you can use any 52mm accessory on your older lenses.

So, in short, you need:

1) Series VI - VII step up adapter (Series VI on the lens, i.e. adapter, and Series VII for the filter).

2) Busted 52mm filter - we need just the ring.

Put the 52mm filter (with some glue on the threads) inside the Series VII opening - and it's done.

I've seen here suggestions for 49mm reversed filter rings, but for my purpose, a discarded (scratched) Nikon L1BC 52mm filter worked just fine!

Old and/or broken filters are one of those "resources" that's a shame people throw away. I would have no doubt that many LF folks would pay a buck for one when needed. I wouldn't mind a dozen or so here!

Ed Romney recommends something similar for lenses with bent rings. Gluing an old filter ring on and enabling you to use filters.
