Well,
Have been playing with making ground glass for my Crown, as I am cheap and reguse to pay what they are trying to charge on the dreaded auction site, tried the acid method, and could not seem to get an even frosting all across the surface, so did some more reading and low and behold purchased a pound of Aluminum Oxide in 600 grit and spent about 10 minutes with a little water and grit, worked like a charm, as far as glass, been purchasing 4 x 6 picture frames at the local shop for $1.00 each and cutting 1 inch off the end for a 4 x 5 inch piece works like a charm. You should be able to find the grit in various sizes at your local hobby shop or rock polishing shop.
Very simple.
