Is there a source of Super XX (or any other for that matter) film for use in this camera?
I could also use a litte help on the film operation. Green tab first? Also, are film holders still available? Thanks!

C-4 sounds like a military nomenclature. I will assume you have a 2X3 miniature Speed Graphic. Forget Super XX. It's ancient history, as are film packs and adapters. Regular double sided film holders are readily available. 2X3 Grafmatic holders are also available though not as common. If your camera has a Graflok back, you can use roll film holders for 120 roll film. 2X3 sheet film is available from J&C Photo, Freestyle Sales, and B&H Photo carries Ilford HP-5 in 2X3.

Thanks Glenn, but I don't know what a "Graflok" back is. The camera was obtained from an estate and, as you noted, it was a military model of the Miniature Speed Graphic. It had no modifications, so if this back was standard, i should be able to obtain a roll film back, right?

Thanks for your help.

Chuck: You'd save a lot of everybody's time by doing a bit of basic research on the main Graflex.org page.

Re: Graflok backs, see here:

If your camera has a Graflok back, here is info on Graflex roll film backs:

http://graflex.org/speed-graphic/accessories.html#RollFilmBacks

If your camera does NOT have a Graflok back, I don't believe there are not any 120 roll film backs which will fit your camera. That's what Glenn was telling you.

Alec, there's always the dread Adapt-A-Roll 620, which will slip right in.

Cheers,

Dan

If you can get past my atrocious grammar:
"I don't believe there are not [sic] any 120 roll film backs which will fit your camera." [I don't know how that "not" got in there], you'll note I tried to be specific and limit my response to 120 film. Yes, there are some 620 roll backs out there, but finding one and then either modifying the spools, or the back to take 120 film, would certainly diminish the fun to be obtained.

I'd opt for leaving the camera alone [especially if it has collector's value] and use sheet film with Grafmatics or SFHs. Chances are he will not be shooting a lot of film through this camera anyway. If so, I'd get a Century.

If the camera has a spring back, the easiest and most logical way to go is Grafmatics. They can often be found on ePay for around 20 bucks. I like the idea of being able to expose and develop each sheet to fit the circumstances, too. 2X3 sheet film is becoming more available these days (black & white). For color, I cut my own.

Alec, old curmudgeon, the dread AAR will feed perfectly well from a 120 spool. That's how I use mine. In my experience, AARs insist on taking up on a 620 spool. So, if one doesn't want to chase 620 spools AND sends film out for processing, exposed film has to be put on a 120 spool. That's what changing bags are for.

Cheers,

Dan
