I have a stated shutter, Not a Packard!, in which someone has replaced 3 of the blades. The replacement blades are reddish brown. When reassembling, the service person laid one edge of a balde on the top of the next in a clockwise manner. This resulted in a very thick glob of shutter blade tips at the center and an EGG SHAPED opening at f45.
The shutter is serial number 12671 with a patent date of Mar. 12, 1907. It is slightly larger than an Ilex #5.
1). HOW does one OPEN one of these for repair? No visable means of assembly.
2). Any ideas on how to add a PC socket?
Charles

I have one of these for my Portait Velostigmat. and yes there's quite a clump in the center and mine isn't exactly a round aperture either.

To do an exploratory, set the aperture wide open, remove the front cell where it meets the shutter. With some wiggling the front bezel (that says "Studio Shutter" and the aperture ring will come loose. After that ,there's a couple of screws that hold the front case to the back. Beyond that your on your own...it's Xmas evening and I don't need a shutter added to my very long "ready to assemble list

Santa's early express left it for me with a 14" Vesta Portrait attached.
Front element-barrel-threaded ring-appearance bezel-front shutter plate. The threaded ring was difficult, didn't want to turn. Layout precludes interlacing shutter/iris blades.
