Are there any people who can competantly service a shutter in the UK.
I would prefer to go by a reccomendation of a UK Graflex user.
Or is there nobody with a really good track record? |

Simple-buy another shutter, you can pick them up cheap enough-repairs would cost too much!
...and if you want to retain your old lens, just unscrew the original (back & front) and place it into the 'new' shutter.
That way you need not do any adjustments.Make sure though you buy the same shutter, not start mixing them because of the threads. You might need a key made to unscrew from the board at the back.
Lifes a dream with a Graphic...don't worry about things!.

I was just seeking a source of expertise to do a CLA in England (if I needed one). This is to save International postage to SK Grimes. |

Any competent experienced camera/lens tech should be able to handle this. My suspicion is that the younger guys haven't seen many leaf shutters, though. But this should be easy if you look around, especially in London.
I knew a few repair places in London when I lived there a long time ago. First places I'd try:
(a) phone Teamwork Photo-- they're now in W1 north of Oxford Street somewhere. They'd be able to recommend someone good-- I'm not sure if they have their own repair guys, but they probably do. They used to deal with a lot of older gear for users-- I bought a Graphic roll film back from them about 20 years ago.
(b) phone Linhof on Marchmont St. They will be both arrogant and pricey if they do anything for you in house, but they may be able to recommend someone. |
