I have a 127mm Kodak Ektar (coated) in a Supermatic (x) shutter. I'm looking to replace a chipped rear cell. Any help?
Thanks..TONY |

First off I'd shoot it and see what kind of problems you might incur. I had a 14" comm ektar with a chunk out of the center element about 1/4" dia. I painted it black and kept a good shade on it and it was amazingly fine.
The cost to have a new cell made would be astronomical. Best to find a new lens.

I agree with Les! I have a 127mm Ektar with the same problem and it shoots fine. However, if you want a lens w/o defects than I would aim for purchasing another 127mm Ektar, as they show up on the famous auction site regularly. You didn't mention whether the chip is in the center or towards the edge? If it is towards the edge I wouldn't worry about it at all....just fill in the chip with black paint/ink/dye. |

Thanks for the suggestion. I was hoping someone had a bad shutter and scratched front cell with a good rear cell. I prefer not using a chipped lens only so I can't blame the lens for my mistakes....Thanks again..TONY |

There was one on the auction site ending this morning, hazy front element, good rear, non x supermatic, on graphic board, that should have ended around 11am auction time with a $90 BIN, but it doesn't show up in an ended item search.
Not what you wanted to hear.
Just checked Ritz Collectables and they have 3; 2 with a 9+ rating for $95 and 1 with a 9++ rating for $135. Can't do that good for this nice on the auction site. Click on view catalog then left scroll to large format lens.
