Hello,
I would like to fit a lens hood on the subject lenses. The Optar has an outside diameter about 32mm, while the Dagor has 30mm.
The Dagor is all black finished. What would you suggest to avoid marks from press fitted adaptor rings?

For the Optar I'd use the old Series VI 32mm -
1 1/4" adapter and a series 6 hood.
for the Dagor, I"d look into Steve Grimes' patented filter holder, It's still a slip on but uses an O ring for the tension, so no scratches. And since it's semi custom built you can probably get the other end in a standard threaded size.
If there's an internal thread to the front, he can make an adapter to go from the lens to a threaded filter.

| Just one fine point. Steve died in April. The business continues. |

Thanks guys...I knew about Steve from photo.net. That was a sad day. Steve recemented my 190mm Ektar for my Super D. He was very professional, friendly and did great work. I will take a look on his website....now how about figuring out my Optar question - Rodenstock or Wollensak on the f/4.7 135mm in the final years? I know that Rodenstock furnished the lens for the 1000mm shutter (f/4.5). |

I don't know. I'm working on it but it might have been a situation where Graflex never really gave up on the name, but towards the end, it just became cheaper not to have Rodenstock engrave it. Just a guess. |
