Our company is doing market research to see whether there is interest in a CD which would include photos/diagrams of how to modify your speed Graphic back to facilitate a wider range of movements. Other modifications would also be included. The CD would be available for $24.95 US + shipping costs. Please post here if you would be interested in this product.Sorry guys, as my subject I included it as a reversing back, but not in the message. The back would initially only work with 75mm lenses and up but I plan to also produce plastic recessed lens boards so I can use my 65mm Super Angulon. Actually I tried my 65mm lens last night and it focusses to 4.5 feet which is the hyperfocal length for f22. So it will work. Thanks for your interest.

This might fall in the *******/want catagory but since
1. your asking only for information (opinion)
2. it's directly related to Graphic cameras

and

3. I'm curious too.

I'll allow it.

A professional photographer friend of mine, Randy Bye, modifies 2x3 Crown Graphic bodies so as to end up with a revolving back (i.e., from horizontal to vertical only). It involves a bit of precise carpentry work, but the end result is perfect for his needs. Randy does a lot of house interiors; he uses modern (i.e., expensive) lenses, some of which are mounted off-center on the lensboard to augment the limited movements on the Crown. He uses 120 roll film exclusively.

I haven't addressed your question at all, but just thought I'd throw this in here FWIW.

Unfortunately for me, this modification probably would be impractical on a Century.

Gerhard,

I think maybe the reason you are not getting overwhelmingly positive responses here is because this forum is all about helping fellow Graphic users unselfishly and not for profit.

Besides selling these mods, there may be other reasons for no overwhelming responses. He specifically mentions modifying the _back_ of the camera. This would mean some drastic mods that would undoubtedly be non-reversible and otherwise ruin a collectable camera.
I would not want to chop up any of my Graphics no matter what movements it afforded me. And we all already know of the simple mod to the front standard for forward tilt. Most of us don't need any more. And if we do, there's the view camera!
Perhaps a better explanation of these mods would help?

Yes, my friend's modification of his Crown backs is definitely "irreversible" (ouch! pun intended).

This is the addition of a simple reversing back, my original is still in tact. It uses your existing back.I know how you feel, using these cameras is like using a Historical icon. Regards.

This is a reversing back which is an add on that uses your existing back. So it could be taken off any time and the camera could be turned back to it's original condition. Regards.
