Just got hold of a Series D RB 4x5 graflex, and found that the shutter curtain is ripped on the edge of the next-to-smallest slit (about 1/2-inch wide). Anyone know if there's a way to patch those curtains? |

I haven't tried this, but keep in mind that if you add a patch on one side, the curtain will be thicker on that side and want to roll off the track. So if you do try a patch, I'd suggest you make an equal sized patch on the opposite side, so that the curtain has a chance of rolling up evenly.
As there isn't much clearance for extra thickness I can't think of what to use that would be thin enough and flexible enough - and strong enough.
There were some sources of curtain material - maybe it would be easier and less long term trouble to just fabricate a complete replacement. |
