OK, so this isn't a camera lens! I'd like to say that I'm trying to duplicate the look of 1940's pix with my Crown, 127 Ektar, and Omega D-ll with the 135mm enlarging ektar, but I wasn't---it just so happens that this stuff was all I could afford. I haven't read much about the enlarging ektar and the lens disks that I've seen that fit the D series all have noticably smaller openings that would accomodate the 135 ektar(45mm hole )required. Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions about this lens? Now I am actually hoping that I can replicate a 40's look. Thanks!

there's been a lot of people trying to recreate the past and many of them have settled on the fact that the two missing elements are the film from the time and the paper from the time.

The old thick emulsions that didn't have an anti-halation backing, and the silver rich bromide papers of the period aren't available anymore. i suspect the closest is the Bergger 200 film, which approximates the Super XX, but even that's a thin film.

And I suspect the closest you'll get to Ad Type paper is the Ilford warm, which isn't warm, its just tonable. I don't think the enlarging ektar will have a great effect on your photos.

If you really want the "old" look, try to find some Kodak Ektapan 4x5 sheet film. It was discontinued in July 2002, but still on the shelves in 100 sheet boxes. The film is the "Verichrome Pan" of sheet film and according to the Film Developing Cookbook (Anchell, et al) has 2 emulsion layers. I really like the tonal range of this film and have put some back into the freezer. I develop in in hangers (open 1/2 gal. tanks) in HC-110.
