Hi Gang.
I've a beautiful Kodak Ektar f7.7 203mm lens in a Flash Supermatic shutter that worked perfectly until it dropped from the case to the floor. A distance of about 10 inches. Naturally it took a toll. The shutter release now requires a hard push to fire. The selector from F to M won't and the bi-poll will no longer trigger the flash.
I'm comfortable taking the F and R lens elements off, opening the faceplate of the shutter and I've cleaned and lubed with a combination of lighter fluid. No improvement.
Is it time for Steve Grimes?? What do you think the cost might be. I really love this lens and want to hang on to it.

Sory - That should read - "I've cleaned and lubed with a combination of lighter fluid and powdered graphite." |

You can go the Steve Grimes route, he may be able to repair it, but a new shutter is always possible.
Another option is to find another Supermatic No2 and replace the face and instal the lenses. 127mm ektars don't go for much.... But you are trading your problems in for a shutter of unkown quality. |
