Nice Aero. From the serial number it is obviously a 1944 model. I am a 1943 model, so I am a bit older than your lens. Very nice. I like your lensboards. I did the same for my Speeds. A nice piece of five ply baltic plywood from the hobby shop made two wonderful lensboards for under US$5. There are a couple of nice 2.5 Aero Ektars on ebay right now, whether or not they will stay in my price range is debatable. Time will tell.Have fun with your new cameras.

Nice to see you over here! You will find that folks aren't too talkative around here, seems it is all business. But when the elders do post, the depth of knowledge on this board will amaze you.

The Black Speed is ready to hit the street, proudly sporting its Aero-Ektar. The range-finder seems to be dead on the money, thanks, to Bruce aka bruiser lending me a Graflok back with a ground-glass.

I replaced the original back on the Black Speed with a black 'Lynlok' back, rebuilt, serviced, and loaded a pair of Grafmatic 45's with Tri-X 320, and we are set to hit the streets. A point-n-shoot with a difference!



I have come a full circle, the primary motivation to acquire a Speed Graphic was because I wanted to use an Aero-Ektar as I was all lined up to buy a Linhof Technika kit from a friend but realized that I needed a Speed Graphic for the focal plane shutter.

So my dream of owning and using a Aero-Ektar/Speed Graphic is a reality. So I am off to take some photographs!

Keep posting pictures and sharing the fun!! Maybe one of the other very recent posters knows everything but probably the rest of us don't. I, for one, appreciate the step by step assembly of the Speeds and lenses, one instance where a picture is worth at least 1000 words.

They are beautiful cameras and deserve to be shown off.

Go burn some film Lynn and show us the results!

Love that Lynn-lock back. My pre-anniversary Speed has a spring back, but it is a bit of a tight fit for the Grafmatic holder, so I just might fabricate one of your holders. It does ok with the quickload holder and the regular film holders, but I really don't want to break something by overstressing the back. I'm looking forward to your results with that Aero-Ektar.
