Hi Dan (Almanac extraordinaire!)

Many thanks - yup - it's definitely an oscilloscope lens - it reads:

Elgeet 3 inch f1.9 Oscillo-navitar Mag 1:0.9 X Made in the USA by Elgeet Rochester N.Y.

One thing .....the inner lens barrel is too big for the Century Graphic, so it's been lying around for some time. The lens is in perfect condition and the shutter runs perfect to time tolerances (+/- 10%). This one has an external thread for a mounting board, however....finding a board that fits...shame....no ring. I need to get a set of calipers to measure the thread diameter.

Conceivably it would manage on a 4x5" Sinar board with a few adapters.

I remember using the 65mm S.A. on a 5x4" Sinar - I think I had to tilt the front standard backwards in order to focus. Very
awkward trying to work with a lens limited
like that. The tight operating tolerances made me take it off and now it mates happily on the Century.

Remember the 73mm Weitz Orthar (Plaubel Makina lens) I asked about here once? Well, I never did modify it and fit it into a shutter for the Century. The quote was astronomical. In the end, it was as economical as a Plaubel Makina IIIR. I think the Century would have been better at rangefocussing this lens than the Plaubel itself: the Plaubel requires focussing on a 100mm rangefinder base, and then transferring the reading manually onto a separate marked scale for the 73mm and adding the correction manually.

Should've got the lens modified for the Century......;(
