I have a heavy lens project coming up, and I'm having trouble visualizing how an unconventional board fits properly, after seeing how the right angle channels of a conventional Graflex metal board fit into the front standard channels, forming a light trap.
The slide locks in front look like one has to play by their rules, too.
...and how thick does a board have to be to hold beast lenses like AE-178 etc? I'm looking at a 4"x8" lens (mfr only alleged so far, not confirmed).
Thanks

Need a flange? This is what I do. Soak a black shoelace in water for a little while, run some Elmer's white glue along it with your finger (this is water soluble). Now wrap the gluey shoelace tightly around the shutter thread after the shutter is mounted to the board, five or six turns around. Put a rubber band on it til dry. Holds up for years, comes off with a few droppers full of water and careful work with a razor blade. Of course, a ten-inch Ektar in a #4 shutter is the biggest and heaviest I ever tried this with. A giant aero-Ektar -- might try a wet rawhide bootlace, they shrink as they dry. Works for stone axe heads.... |

The Verito is a barrel lens, right?
How does one control exposure with a barrel soft focus lens (well maybe it's not SF, but I think it is a 'portrait' lens) without stopping down so far (for slow-enough-to- control exposures) it becomes sharp?
Thanks

Oh, that shoelace trick is GREAT!
I'd still want to wear steel-toed boots...with my luck a big lens would take a bite out of my foot.
