Can someone help me determine which focussing scales go to which lenses on my Century Graphics. I have three that are -32's and one that is a -2 i believe. I believe the dash32's are for the 103mm lenses, and that the dash2 may be for the 101mm lenses. Is there any documentation I can review or a list of coinciding part numbers like for the view finder masks?
thanks,
Stephen

Several members have the list, but we must know what lenses you want to identify the scales for besides the 101mm and the 103mm, you said you had 3! Usually the list has several scales listed for each lens! Bert

Hello Bert,

I have the following lenses

Trioptar 103mm
Graftar 103

Ektar 101
Ektar 105

Optar 101
Optar 135
Optar 162

Raptar 65
Raptar 90
Tele-Rap 8"

Linhof Symmar 135/235

I am most concerened with the 101, 103, and 105mm lenses as these are what i use most on my 2x3's and would like to check the scale on my 4x5 for the Optar 135. Interestingly, the Crown 4x5 has a cam for a 132mm lens, but seems to work well with the 135 Optar. And I intend to set up a Century with a dedicated 135 for hand held protraits and things.
Regards,
Stephen

Stephen, I'll be glad to help you.

Please give me a list of the full part nos. on each scale and I'll identify it for you. Because there were so many scales made, this is the quickest way, rather than just list all scales for a particular focal length.

Alec

Ok thanks, this will be no problem but may have to wait so I can pop them off and jot them down. Should be tomorrow or the next day. Check back as I do not have time to do it now.
Thanks, this makes good sense!
Stephen

Stephen,
Use the number off the larger bed portion, the numbers off the small rail section rarely come up.

OK, Stephen, here's what you've got:

30881-10 135mm -14
30882-32 103
30882-2 101
30882-8 105 +14

With respect to the + & - nos., when Graflex made several scales for "one" focal length, it made with them minor "adjustments"; that is, a 135 might be 135 1/2. The adjustments were in units of 14 [never heard what those numbers actually represented]. Anyway, the two lenses you have with the adjustments are only slightly more or less than the stated FL. The others were dead on for the FL I have stated. Hope that helps.

Yes, Thank you very much.
That was exactly what I wanted to know, and I can make sure I change one of the scales on a late model Century to a Spare scale for a 103mm scale. And this varifies I have the right scale on my 4x5 for the 135mm, as well as the 105 Ektar on the Speed which has the most different of all of them.
Now that I have that figured out, and have coursely adjusted all of my RF's I can now see about fine tuning everything. I am still looking for a p-13 cam ans scale for my Crown so I can hand hold it with very nice 162mm Optar. I can make a scale no problem, but would like to have the factory cam.
So thanks again...
Stephen

Sorry, Top, but I struck out on those. My scale list [Purportedly the Pacemaker list] has scale numbers beginning with the prefixes 30881- or 2. Are you sure about that second number?

FYI, I also have a list of Pacemaker cam lists, so if you have a cam with a number that has the format 34735-x, perhaps I can ID it.

Alec;
I just double checked-30089 it is. It's on a very late Anny. Speed Graphic 4x5 that I aquired without a lens, and I just happen to have a 13.5cm Zeiss Tessar already mounted in a C board, so I was hoping it would be for a 135.

All right, scale fans, here's the scoop:
Mounted the 13.5 Tessar, calibrated the Kalart RF, and #30089 lines up across the range.
Ditto with #29320-14 and a 127mm Ektar.

Good for you. Sounds like the beginning of an Anniversary focusing scale list to me!

Geezzz, I guess I'll have to pull the scale of my '41 Anny with the 15cm Voigtlander Skopar to see what that number is.

And in the cold light of morning, that number is:
61948
