I noted in a photo of a Combat Graphic 4x5 that it appeared to have a Graflex type back with the single slide bar lock.
This being the case, I assume this was done for ease of changing film with press type film holders supposing that the Graflok was not in use yet.
Am I correct in making these assumptions?
And dopes anyone know where I might find a bit more info on these cameras. I am as yet still looking for one, but more interested in them than needing to own or use them...
I do know some were over painted in black but never varified if this was factory or an after thought...

That particular setup, I'm pretty sure, would have been use with a 12 shot bag mag. It could be used with the slotted double film holders, too, but that would slow the action down a bit. I have seen two Combat Graphics on the auction thingy in the last two days. Spotted a particularly nice one this morning.

Hello
This type of back is the "original" or first type back.
Later 44, ( perhaps around 45/46 or later, not sure)Only the 1950 TM explain the spring back
Graflex and The corps (and Navy too) changed the back type for a spring model.

I have one in this configuration, you can se it here : http://perso.orange.fr/willysmb/overlord2004_graflex_combatgraflex1944usmc.htm
As you can see, I have the 12 magazine, the Film Pack and only 3 double cut films.

I will place photo asap with the second bacjk type.

By the way is somebody can provide to me a photo from the Inside sticker in the leather case?
With all my best.
Laurent

The original reason for the Graflex back was to get easy access to the three batteries that are installed inside the body that power the flash unit.
