I couldn't find another similar topic to append this to, so I'll start one. Today, happened to be watching Senate Hearings involving budget questions posed to Sec. Rumsfield. Suddenly, the screen was filled with a close up of a 45 Speed/Crown camera user [sans flash] taking hand-held existing light photos of the various Senators. He was all alone, sitting at the end of the table, and boy did he look more professional than those guys sprawled on the floor in front of Rumsfield. Didn't stay on him long enough to see him change film, but it was a wonderful sight just seeing that old camera still being used in a public setting. |

Wow, seems odd (in more ways than one) that a 'press' photographer would be using a Graphic in such a setting. Also seems odd that they let him in with such a camera
I wonder if there's some official use for the 4x5 from the government itself? Anyone have any thoughts? Are there any press photographers still using Graphics?

Could be somebody freelancing for a magazine; they usually use their own cameras, and don't always use the newest fanciest ones. |

Interesting this-WEEGEE alway's said, the SPEED GRAPHIC always went first, and I was the next to follow-thus clearing the way..
A couple of days ago in London I was using the GRAPHIC at a fashion show packed with people all around the stage...
I did'nt stay with the press mob,you know the routine all standing on ten foot ladders all getting the same picture (real clever,I don't think)so I moved around.
The GRAPHIC cleared the area immediately, people just moved aside, was this a new secret weapon I was holding which come to think of it (a)never seen in the flesh before, and (b)only seen in movies.
Of course, you become the center of attraction more than the fashion show itself, perhaps a new fashion accessory??
...next it will be autographs.
It's a whole new ballgame to many just seeing this camera in action even though I was using a roll film back..It's something they have never seen before only on the silver screen.
Anyhow,greetings from London to all..
