Hi all,
Does anyone know if there is rotating or revolving back for the 4x5 Crown or Speed Graphic? I understand that there is probably some way to modify one from another manufacturer, but I would of course prefer to keep everything Graflex.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions

Roy,
They never made a rotating back for the Crown or Speed...but they did provide tripod socket under the handle on the left side! As far as a modification to install a rotating back from another manufacturer, back dimensions would probably make that.. >Not impossible, but difficult!
Have a nice day.....Bert |

As Bert say, they never made a rotating back because it wouldn't work. The bellows are designed for 4x5 in the horizontal position, so the image would be cut off if the film were in the vertical position.
It gets even more difficult with the Speed as the focal plane shutter's rollers would have be moved farther appart (making the camera much larger) and some impressive math involved in recalculating the focal plane shutter to travel 5 inches instead of 4.
The only rotating back for a Speed Graphic was a 2x3 rotating back to be mounted on a 3x4. Most people found is was lighter and faster to flip your wrist to shoot verically.
