Yes, Alec, better judgement should have been exercised on my part. Thank you for pointing this out to me. I stand corrected. Those wishing to read this piece can refer to a thread dated today on Photo.net. No harm, no wrong was intended, no offense was meant. I hope none was taken.
Best, Jack.

Jack, I'm surprised you feel authorized to quote, in full, an article from the New York Times available, after registration, from their web site. A summary is one thing, but a full copy? I don't think that is proper. However, Les will have to make that call.

Well, I'm sorry I missed that... It's not posted in the other threads either. And I won't subscribe to the times, free or not because last time I made that mistake I was flooded with spam... Oh-well....

Jack: As the resident curmudgeon, and being a recovering attorney, I posted merely to forestall any criticism of the Helpboard. Nothing personal was meant nor taken. The subject was certainly appropriate here, but just not the means. We all have our momentary lapses. Thanks for your understanding. Alec

Here is a link to the same article that does not require registration:

http://www.nytimes.com/2005/06/08/technology/circuits/08schiesel.html?ex=1118808000&en=185d824e4775d6a0&ei=5070&emc=eta1

If it doesn't work, PM me and I'll email you the link.

Everything OK here, read the article loud & clear..thanks for the link.

Yes,the human race are like sheep, follow the leader into the 'digital'shop...noboby wants to be seen as an 'individual'anymore.Like lambs to slaughter.

The more buttons the better it is-and still these 'digital'experts cannot take a decent picture-it's 'my camera is better than yours'syndrome.

Everyone is an expert now, blurred are the demarcation lines between good & bad photography.

I submitted some 'Graphic' pictures to a website and they were turned down as being too sharp & clear,it didn't fit in with the dark & dingy pictures taken by the other guys using 'digital' or camera phones.

We even have a TV program here put out by the BBC entitled A Digital Picture of Britain, hold on,whats all that about?.

Everyone it seems has rediscovered everything over again...or another ploy is...submit your digital pictures here on the internet.

Hold on,nobody used to say this about film cameras, next it will be "rejection slip" saying,Digital only,& submit number of pixels".

Sorry digital guys...a picture with a Graphic still outshines anything else around.Thinking has been taken away from Photography-the difference is,the Graphic you have to think about shooting-the rest of the sheep are lazy, want to press a few buttons see instant results, for what purpose I ask (unless Press photographer).

My usual gripe about todays photography.

Thanks for the link. At least now I know what people are talking about. And how different poeple can read entirely different from other people... That's more interesting than the article itself
