Hi all,

Got a question, haven't run into this in 25 years of shotting.

Was taking night photos last night with the Ciro-Flex, out in the snow under the full moon, of the woods and fields and my sister's farmhouse here in NW Ohio.

Was about 0F-10F, maybe colder. I was out about 30 minutes, maybe longer. I've done night photos before (Arizona, usually), and I bracketed, so I suspect I've got something good in there.

But when I came in the house, my camera was instantly covered in frost! I mean a heavy layer of the stuff, all over the outside...

My sister asked if that was good for the camera. I don't think it's good for it, but will it hurt anything?

I suspect not, given the all-mechanical nature of the Ciro-Flex. But I don't know.

Thoughts?

Allow it to air dry fully before storing. In the future put the camera in a plastic bag before going outside and let it cool to the outside temperature before removing. Do the same before taking the camera back inside and let it warm up before removing from the bag. Enough mositure inside the camera can cause the shell or gears to corode or rust.

Thanks! That makes sense. Will either get a big Zip-Lock bag or use one of my kayaking dry-bags when I come in from a shooting session next time.

The layer of frost doesn't seem to have hurt the CF any, and the photos of the farm by moonlight turned out very well.
