Hi,

I dont have a service manual and was wondering if anyone could tell me the correct focal plane shutter tension. Under the cover on the side of the camera that sets the focal plane shutter speed, there is a snall star shaped washer held in place with a screw. This sets the tension on the curtain initially. What I need to know is How many (CCW)rotations should I set this at when the shutter is set to (O).

Side RF Speed manual states:
Draw a pencil line on the washer (for reference). Turn the screw conterclockwise
A). 2x3-4 revolutions
B). 3x4-5 revolutions
C). 4x5-6 revolutions.
Tighten the shaft retainer screw so that the screw shoulder fits into the tension shaft retainer cut-out edge.

Top RF manual states:
as above except, turn screw counter clockwise 5 to 8 turns.

Both state: With wind key at the "O" position triping the shutter release the curtain should travel across the opening in a smooth manner and latch at the end of travel with camera in either veritcal or horziontal position. If curtain does not travel smoothly or does not latch at the end of travel increase the lower roller spring tension.

Would anyone have the same data for an Anny?

I don't have a manual for an Anny but I find that 5 turns is a good starting point. The shutter should close smoothly from "O" to closed in about a fifth of a second at tension number 1. At least that's my method.
