Enlarging lenses are dogs on the market right now....lots of incredible Schneiders and Nikkors and Rodenstocks ...even Leitz, dirt cheap on Ebay. Plus we probably mostly have them already, just gathering dust..I've got a great Leitz 60MM and Fuji 205 preset (easily equal to top Nikkors), for example...
Anybody here actually tried an enlarging lens as a general purpose taking lens? Results?
What about shutters...are there adapters for 39mm Leica thread, typical of enlarging lenses?
These do make superb copy lenses even without a shutter...but you have to stop way down and use your hat for the purpose.

I've shot 4"/5.6 Enlarging Pro Raptar, 135/4.5 Boyer Saphir B, 135/5.6 Enlarging Pro Raptar, and 150/4.5 Boyer Saphir at distance. The first three are good grades of 6/4 plasmats, the last is a tessar type. Short answer, don't waste the film.
I've shot my 4" and 135 mm Enlarging Pro Raptars as macro lenses, also 75/3.5 Saphir B, 80/5.6 C.E. Rokkor-X, 85/3.5 Saphir B, 135/4.5 Saphir B, and Enlarging Ektar 50/4.5. The 4" Enlarging Pro Raptar is outstanding from 1:8 to 4:1. The EE is very good up to 10:1. The Saphir B's are pretty good from 1:8 - 1:1. All of these better than the Minolta.
Adapter to put enlarging lenses in a modern shutter? SKGrimes made a female M39x1 to male #1 (M40x0.75) for me. I don't believe such adapters available off the shelf. Also, remember that not all enlarging lenses are in M39x1.

| I think one of the companies [Scheinder or Rodenstock] made adapters to fit thier enlarger lenses to a shutter. |

Componons were sold in shutters...
and I read somewhere that they were decent for products at studio distances, as well as for copy work...
...think it's true? Anybody tried?
Componons were always decent enlarging lenses and now they're dirt cheap...
Wouldn't it be nice if there was a use for them? |

Yes they were sold in shutter. Yes they've been used at "not too far" distances. Yes they aren't very expensive now. Yes it would be nice.
Hope springs eternal. Buy one, shoot with it, and report back. While you're at it, find us some good inexpensive wide angle lenses.

Yes, well, the WA Raptar's a decent lens in my experience...equal perhaps to an Angulon.
EBay's got a few 90 Raptars right now, I think, and a couple of Super Angulons, including a 75, my favorite and maybe a bargain, since 65 seems more popular.
Wish I could find an old 47Angulon...I had one on a Century years ago, sawed the rails short by maybe 1" to keep them out of images

You had to trim the rails? Odd. My 47/5.6 SA doesn't see my Century's rails when the bed is dropped.

No problems with your 47 at infinity in your 2X3? Hmm.
Do you just use the ground glass, maybe a Voigtlander viewfinder (idea), or...? |

FWIW, the person who posts here as notMPP reports using a 35/4.5 ApoGrandagon on a Century. My shortest lens is a 38/4.5 Biogon that doesn't cover 2x3. It makes infinity on the Century with mm to spare.
Voightlander finder? Send money, I accept gifts.
I focus and compose on the GG, and, yes, shoot from tripod.
