hi does anyone know where to get a 150mm cam for a Crown Graphic? does anyone offer making them still?

I read the instructions on this site on how to make one, but it seems a little beyond my limited technical idiocy..

I'd like a 150mm or 180mm lens/cam on the camear, as I'm keen to work with an accurately set up rangefinder

many thanks,
paul

This site has a list of "Pacemaker" cams for various focal lengths, which will tell you which one you need.

I have not heard that anyone makes them. Stephen Shuart used to have a list of available cams on his site, but he seems to have vanished into thin air -- a great loss, as he had a lot of stuff that was hard to find elsewhere. (Does anyone know what has happened to him?)

Dealers in large-format equipment sometimes list one or two, and they have been seen on eBay, though not often. You could ask; knowledgeable dealers include Midwest Photo Exchange, Pacific Rim Camera and Equinox Photographic.

Your best chance probably is Fred Lustig. He bought up all the Graflex parts from the vestigial Graflex service organization, some years back, and is a fine technician too, perfectly capable of making a cam if he does not have one in stock. He has been ill, but is reported to be recovering. He does not do e-mail. The last number I have for him is (775) 746-0111 (Reno, NV) -- if anyone has a more recent number, it would be valuable to post it here.

Incidentally, Graflex warned that just popping in a cam would not assure reliable rangefinder synchronization. One used to send one's camera and lens to Graflex for installation of the appropriate cam.

I acknowledge above statement. My Crown has the 135 Optar, but has a cam for 132mm lens called out on the list. It seems to work quite well throughout its range...

Paul
I know you don't want to make a cam but I doubt that I would even use my Crown without a workable rangefinder. My rangefinder has been very reliable for 30 years.
On my web site I have a sketch of the P9 cam, with dimensions, for my 152mm Ektar. Go to:
http://www.worldphoto.bravepages.com/
Click on "Click to go to the bottom of the page" and then click on "Graflex Directory" and then go to the bottom of the page for the sketch.
I question why anyone needs written instructions to make a cam out of aluminum?
Harry
Just above on the same page there are cam location drawings and instructions in my 40 page manual
