i have a couple of grafix flash, one the solinoid works well it has two posts on it/ the other the posts are one the shutter doesn't work. i bought off ebay an oldr 163mm #3 acme synchro it has two posts. it when fire sets off the flash my qustions are what is the workings of the solinoids two post on solinoid solinoid without posts connected to lense with two posts. also shutter repair?? and where to find solinoids/ do the ones with no posts take adjusting? is there a cable conection i don,t see?? if so what cord and where to acess. my spelling is in par with my lak of knollege part of my problem is my medication. the older we get the more pills we take the thicker my glasses get and the more padding in my shoes. the alternitive i stave off as long as possible. as i'm sure we all do. Well, Richard,
The solenoid(s) were used to trip the shutter when the flash button was pushed in the days before flash sync was incorporated into the shutter. Solenoids without post should have two small holes in the bottom where pins from the sync cord plug in. Today solenoids can be used for electronic shutter release. The adjustment procedure is here: http://graflex.org/helpboard/viewtopic.php?t=1453&highlight=solenoid+adjustment and is for syncing the shutter opening to the peak light output of flash bulbs.

The two pins on the shutter are called BiPost and are the flash sync terminals. They should fire a flash when the shutter is tripped and might fire a flash when the shutter is being cocked.
