Even before I owned a Super I read that they had changed the spacing beteen the flash clamps so that the flash handles had to have their clamps moved in order to use them. I really wondered why they bothered to do this?

Now that I own a Super, I just looked into using a flash handle on it. Sure enough, they are spaced farther apart...

But wait a minute, the screws in the bracket on the camera are way off to one side (or bottom). What would happen if I took the bracket off and turned it around?

The spacing is exactly the same as the older cameras! 10 second fix... Now I can use my flash handles on my Super and my Pacemakers!

Which still leaves the question: Why did Graflex do this???

The other question as to why there's a second set of holes in the body just a 1/4 inch lower than the used bracket holes, which may also make the bracket the right distance, is another topic... I didn't try using these holes because it would involve making holes in the external leatherette. And now there's no need to...

If this info was previously known, sorry... But it's news to me, and very happy news!

A related question - has anyone ever seen the Graflite made especially for the Super Graphic? An early brochure shows a flash with a connector on the front of the battery case with a special 3-pin cord that went right into the body-mounted flash receptacle on the Super Graphic.

Hence, the flash perhaps was a B-C type (Battery-Capacitor) and may have drawn flash ignition capacitor current from the Super Graphic 2x22.5v trip batteries. I can't imagine the flash taking D-cells when the connector body is countersunk into the curved face of what is normally a battery holder on a standard flash unit.

It is also displayed in the early advertisments in 1958 for the Super Graphic (Graflex took out a 4-page ad in Modern Photography).

Was this just a prototype or did any make it into production?

It would be interesting to hear from someone who may own or have used one of these.
